Not progressing-inducing

I posted a post asking about the negatives of being induced. My baby is larger, in the 80th percentile weighing 8.2 as of today (38.2 weeks) and he's estimated to be 9.2 by 40 weeks. My doctor does not want me to push out a 10 pound baby. With that being said, I have not progressed as far as dilation and cervix. I've been 1 cm and 50% effaced. I've walked, bounced on a birthing ball, been intimate almost every night and ate spicy foods. I haven't had a single contraction or had any signs of labor. So if I'm not progressing, is it better to be induced than to "let your baby come on its own"?
