Depo shot worth it?

Hi ladies

I'm looking at changing my current birth control (the pill & condoms) but I've been pretty useless at taking the pill ecery day and my partner and I have recently had a condom mishap.

Are any of you on the depo shot? Would any of you recommend it? I've seen that people either love or hate it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would never recommend the shot. My doctor won't even give it to me because of the health risks. Not only are there short term side effects like bleeding for 3 months start, weight gain, hair loss, etc but there are also long term side effects if you're on it for too long. You can develop oesteoperosis and fertility issues. It's been banned in several countries because of the health risks. 
The ring or IUD is much safer so I would look into those. I have the ring and I absolutely love it. Similar to the pill except you don't take it everyday.

I got the Depo Shot this past Wednesday . So far no bad side effects, except hunger and clear discharge(the discharge is probably from my ovulation because I got the shot one day prior to my ovulation start day.) After all my research and studying, most women complain about weight gain, low sex drive, and mood swings. You have control over your weight gain, I'm sorry. You know to keep a healthy diet anyways. If you notice weight gain, why not try an alternative contraceptive?... From an online reading, it stated that most women have Melos swings because of prior issues, like stress. With the on and off bleeding, that could also cause mood swings. I don't actually thin it's the shot itself. I know one thing, if j begin to experience these awful side effects women speak of, I have enough common sense to get off and try something different. Keep in mind, everyone's body is different. You may not experience what they have.

I had the depo shot a few times and I gained a lot of weight while on it. Also I had very irregular periods and even after the shot was supposed to wear off I didn't get my period for 4-5 months afterwards. That was over a year ago and they're just now becoming regular. Everyone's different though 😊
