IVF Egg Retrieval

I just had a laparoscopy for endo and tubal issues, and my doctor recommended IVF. I somehow didn't realize until I read through all the paperwork that eggs are retrieved through surgery. The paperwork says the surgery is only about 15 minutes long, but you still have to go under general anesthesia. What I'd like to know from others is if it takes a week to recover from retrieval, like it does from a laparoscopy. I'm hoping it's much faster and less painful, but that would be a big deal as far as taking time off from work, etc. Thanks for your help!
