Can you clean the cat litter box?

Hi ladies, I recently found out I am expecting my first little one. I have two kitties and I have read on some websites that it is unsafe to clean a cat litter box. Any opinions on this? I have gloves and a mask to wear.

I wouldn't risk it. Plus it's the inky time I can get my husband to do litter box duty lol. Toxoplasmosis can be detrimental to the baby, especially in the first trimester.

Yes, you can clean the little box.  The risk of toxoplasmosis is incredibly low.  Cleaning the littler box is, I believe, a myth that pregnant chicks came up with to avoid doing a nasty chore 😜 you're more likely to get toxoplasmosis from gardening than cleaning the litter box!  I'd take the normal precautions you likely take already though - wash your hands, consider gloves, perhaps a mask.

I didn't do the litter with my first pregnancy, but since then, I've read more about toxoplasmosis. 
First, cats get it from prey animals carrying it, so if you have indoor cats and no mice in your house, it's unlikely to be an issue.
Second, if you have cats, chances are you've already been exposed and are immune.
If your cats spend time outdoors, maybe use gloves and a mask, or have someone else on litter duty.
If you garden, but don't have cats, you're probably at the highest risk because of outdoor cats using flower beds as litter boxes.

If the cats were born in a home and never been outside its fine the toxoplasmosis is not carried by all cats they get it from a dead animal that has it (ex mouse bird ) if it has been wear mask and gloves

People have been having cats and having babies for hundreds of years. As long as you wear a mask/gloves you'll be fine.

I clean it. I wear gloves and a mask and wash my hands after before I touch anything. You just have to clean it often, the longer feces sits the higher chance it can become contaminated, and be very hygienic about it.

I had a cat and it was fine but my cat was strictly in doors. Are your cats in doors or out doors?

No. My doctor strictly said not to do it and have someone else in the house to do it.
