Nerves getting to me... Anybody else?

Question

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and know that baby will be here soon...

I have been OK until now but now my nerves have got to me. I hate hospitals and the past few days have been told how difficult labour is (I'm a first time mum).

Anybody got any positives to say? I know it will be worth it when baby's here but still feel a bit yucky about it all . tia ladies :-)

It's normal to feel this way, but try to change your thoughts into something positive. There are a lot of factors in labor that cause pain and increase pain. The opposite is also true. Factors in labor which decrease pain: satisisfaction, being rested, focus on others/environment, confidence, relaxation, knowledge, company of partner or friends, focus on the present, being self-determined and active. Pain normally indicates a problem or an injury - that something is wrong with our bodies. Childbirth pain indicates physical effort - that the uterus is contracting and that labor is progressing. If women can make that mental jump (from pain as a warning to pain as an indicator of progress) they can deal with the pain more successfully.

I'm a first time mom too. I try to keep in mind that my body knows what to do during labour. Countless women have done this before us, we are strong and we'll manage.

This is number 3 for me and I'm scared and nervous to!! You'll do great...what you get in the end makes it all worth it.

First time mom and I am beyond terrified! I want to meet him so badly but I am nervous and afraid I am not ready for this. It doesn't help that the dad took off at the beginning and I've done the entire pregnancy without him. Just scared all around!

This probably doesn't help much, but I am also a FTM, and 38 weeks plus 2 days. I am getting more and more nervous too. I have never stayed in a hospital, I haven't ever even had stitches! Lol! So this is going to be by far the most intense physical trauma I have ever expected. I guess I am just trying to focus on the fact that once it all starts, it's just going to go by so fast(even if it doesn't actually go by fast). And I have my husband to help me and support me. Plus, think of the billions and billions of woman who have had babies, since the dawn of our species....
