IUD kind of scared?!

Is it normal to be worried about getting this done? I've been wanting it for some time so I no longer have to worry about taking the pill, but I'm scared of having someone looking right at my vagina?! I'm also worried that something will prevent it from working when I get it done and that it will get lost in my body? Am I worrying too much for no reason?

I was super worried about it too but I've been on the pill for 4 years and am in a serious relationship where I know I do not want to have a baby anytime soon! And I can tell you that it is well worth it! I have never had anyone else look down there except my bf, which it can be kinda scary to think about. But they only check things out down there for 30 seconds and I always thought "I'm sure they've seen worse" which helped me out a lot for my first time haha. Like I said definitely worth having a piece of mind of what's going on with your body! I would recommend it!

Honestly I read everything on the Internet to the point where my anxiety was awful so I just stopped and crossed my fingers. I had the coolest doctor at PP and she made me feel really relaxed. The process went very smoothly and I didn't even cramp much afterwards at all. I was reassured if I wanted to attemp childbirth someday I would rock it. So I just want to give you a really positive experience about the iud insertion/recovery process. I was walking my dog an hour later and having sex in a couple days :)

I had a panic attack in the waiting room. But this has been the best decision I've made for my body so far, I've had so many issues with other Birth controls. And I'm super forgetful so I just have to remember in 2020 to get it changed.

It's totally normal to be scared but you have nothing to worry about.

1. Your doctor has seen tons of vaginas, and you'll probably get a blanket or something to cover you a little. You might feel a little embarassed but try not to.

2. There is a small chance of something wrong with the insertion but those odds are very low. It doesn't have anywhere to go, so it's not going to just start wandering around!

3. It's going to be painful but it's totally worth it, you'll be fine!

Ask for a Vicodin and a Valium to take before! I didn't feel a thing, and it was over within 5 minutes!
