My bf doesn't want me to go to parties, is that controlling?

This depends on a number of things. Does your bf have trust issues from past relationships? Like being cheated on, etc. Are you going out and leaving him at home or is there a legit reason why he can't be there? Keep his feelings into consideration and think about how you'd feel if he went out to a party without you. It's natural for him to want to be by your side and protect you while you are surrounded by people drinking and partying. If my boyfriend let me go out to parties alone without saying he's gonna be a bit worried and upset, I'd get upset. I like when he shows he cares.

Yes that's a bit controlling. However I believe that when you're in a relationship you shouldn't do things that you would want them to do. It's about respect. Why doesn't he want you to go to parties? Has something happened before that he doesn't trust you going?

That sounds like he doesn't trust you. Relationships are built on trust. Even if it makes him feel uncomfortable knowing your out, if you want to do it he should still let you and trust your judgement.
