LMP says 8 weeks ultrasound says 5 weeks

I had my first appointment yesterday and when she saw the baby she said she couldn't say if it was a viable pregnancy yet because it's so early. She is checking my hcg counts and I go back in Nov 24. Anyone else have a experience like that?
