Why am I still getting my period now that I have the skyla? I thought it was supposed to slow down. My cramps have gotten worse too. Is that bad?

Hey there!

I got my Skyla just about two months ago. The first period afterwards had lots of cramping and was a bit heavier. From what I've read online Skyla CAN make your periods lighter or even disappear, but because it has fewer hormones than others like Mirena, it happens far less often. If it would happen it wouldn't be for about 6 months to a year. Good luck!

I got my skyla in on September 5 and I've had my period non stop ever since but it will stop within 6 months after you get it

How long have you had it? My first period after Mirena insertion was bad but then they get better afterwards. Cramping is normal when it's new. And it's not going to make your periods disappear immedietly! It'll take some time.
