Iud problems

Hey so I got my skyla iud put in September 2013, it's supposed to last 3 years so I am planning on having it taken out the end of next summer..... But within the last three months I've started spotting a lot and I'm not sure why. Before this I was having my period really rarely (and thankful for it) like maybe once every 3/4 months. But now it's like every other week I am having a super spotty light period. Why would this be happening? Should I take it out early? Adviceeeee please!
