worried - what After GD?

Hi ladies,
Today i found out i have GD. I had type 2-diabetes in the past and was able to control it with losing weight.

I'm now 22 weeks pregnant and failed the glucose-challenge-test. 
In my hospital there is a diabetes-team that will stand by me during this period. I had my first GD-appointment today. The evil nurse (seriously, the doctor is nice, but she... 😡) told me the type 2-diabetes will be probably be back after delivery. I told her that before getting pregnant I had a good glucose-level and wasn't on any meds anymore,... although I am aware type2 never Goes away.

Then she started saying that type 2 can transform into type 1. And that insuline maybe necessairy with type 2 as well.

I'm so worried :-( I don't want to shoot insuline for the rest of my life.

I'm going crazy at this point. The hormones, the GD-news, I can't stop crying... 😞

Argh some of those nurses can be so mean. I feel like they act like your a 5 year old in time out. I am an adult and can be talked to like an adult. I had one that would call like 3 times a week to tell me I was not being truthful on my food diary because my levels were so high. I had another that refused to believe I wasn't diabetic after I had my child and tried to make me take insulin with a low carb meal right after I had my son. I finally threw a total fit until they called my doc and told him my levels. (Apparently she didn't understand GD?!)

I have a family history of type 2 diabetes. I knew I would have GD since all of the women in my family (regardless of their body type) have had it with their pregnancies. Thankfully after two pregnancies with GD I have had all my BG go back to normal. I know my risk is higher but it's not a definite. So don't let her scare you and good job managing it with diet.

😕 I had GD and have a family history of type2. So I'm just trying to watch my diet for the rest of my life and trying to lose weight. Just hoping I don't get type2 ever. It's just so hard to lose weight. Just try not to let the nurse worrie you. What did the doctor say about all this? I would ask him. Best of luck.

You having GD after a type 2 diagnosis is normal.  It seems like the nurse really used some harsh scare tactics and only provided partial truths.  Personally, I'd take it a day at a time. Hang in there!
