Had no idea people upgrade their rings?

Okay, so maybe I've been living under a rock, but I really didn't know this until a couple of months ago and now I see it everywhere.

A couple of my friends and I went out. Two of them are engaged: one for a year and one for about 6 months. Both of them have upgraded their engagements rings... I, on the other hand, have been married for 4 years and still have my original engagement ring and wedding band... They were all shocked and awkwardly disgusted that I still have my same rings lol!

I just feel like my original ring has so many memories tied to it... I just didn't know people got different rings like that. Then again I'm really not a flashy jewelry person.

That seems really early to me for them to be upgrading their rings. I know of couples who upgrade their rings (or maybe just the center diamond/ stone) after 10/20/30 YEARS of marriage. Sometimes they become more financially successful and want to renew their vows and with it upgrade their rings. Idk if I'd do it though, I love my ring!

I've been married 13 years and my rings are the same and they will continue to be the same. I think it's ridiculous and a waste of money to expect an upgrade. My ring has meaning and memories because it's the he proposed to me with, some upgrade would mean nothing. I don't feel the need to have my ring compete with everyone else's.

My husband is actually the one who upgraded mine. We've been married a year and he wanted a bigger diamond. I personally don't care abd never plan to upgrade again. However I'm not attached to a diamond. It's a stone. Memories are memories. But I know people upgrade quickly abd often lately.

I think it's kinda weird to be upgrading your engagement ring lol but that's just my opinion. I've been married for a little more than a year I'm absolutely In love with my wedding ring and I don't plan to upgrade for a few years

We upgraded my engagement ring to an actual wedding set on our anniversary this year, because I lost weight and almost 2 ring sizes and my engagement ring couldn't be resized. We've been together almost 3 years, married 1 in October. But to just upgrade it because something different catches their eye or something of the sort, seems kind of ostentatious IMO. I'm keeping my old engagement ring for our future babies! <3

My rings have to much meaning to them upgrade.  We've been married 8years and I will be upgrading the stone later one but I can't let go of my rings.  My husband didn't have much money when we got married he got only what he could afford but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I used to work for Kay jewelers. People upgrade rings but it's usually after several years of marriage not 6 months after he asks. I wouldn't upgrade my rings though.

When my husband asked me he was leaving 1 career and starting school again, to become a Chiropractor. I have a very nice ring, 3/4 ct center and 2 1/2 ct all together, but I plan on upgrading my center for a 2 ct instead of the 3/4 ct.

I would never upgrade my ring I don't understand the current trend about it the memories tied to my rings are priceless and a new ring wouldn't be the same. I would get an eternity ring when I have our first child but that's the only change or addition I'll be making to my rings.Unless of course I lose a diamond even then I'd replace the diamond and not the ring itself
