Natural labor and delivery?!?!?!

This is my first pregnancy and I am seriously thinking about doing natural at a birthing center.  My husband isn't liking the idea only because I am 4'9 and he thinks I'm to "small" to have a natural birth. What are your views?

I am 5'2 - and with my first I had an epidural. With my second he came too quickly that I had no time for an epidural and I loved it. I ended up going all natural for my third and loved it. I'm planning all natural with this one too!

Same here, but I'm no where near that stature. I believe that our bodies can do anything that nature intended without the added medication! We were meant to give birth. 💗

Your body is built for this! I'm also going for a natural delivery and I'm 5'1" it doesn't matter how small you are. I second watching the business of being born. Natural birth is so much better for mom and baby and a way better recovery! There's a huge age gap between me and my siblings and I was in the room helping when the were born. My mom had all of us completely naturally no meds and it was amazing! I want that experience for my own birth!

We are doing the same!!! Watch "business of being born". It will change everything! As long as you don't have a high risk pregnancy, I say go for it.

I would suggest signing up for a birthing class! We chose the Bradley Method. I'm 5'1 and have no doubts about my ability to do it. My mom and my MIL had natural births as have many other "small" or "short" women. You got this!

Go for it, IF you need to do a transfer to a hospital in case of emergency only, our have the option to.

I personally think we were built to do this whole birthing process.

I did have an epidural with my first, ten years ago when I was 19 years old and was pretty much told at that time to just make it easy, I was scared and in strong labor for 2 days and after 24 hours got the epidural. I will say I did get encouraged to get the epidural, which slowed down my contractions, which resulted in the doctors basically telling me I HAD to get the pitocin. My baby was stressed by it, her heart Rate dropped at a point, thankfully it came back up and I had a vaginal birth.

I feel completely different about the entire experience now. I want to do most of my laboring at home, mostly for at home comforts like eating, bathing and moving around a whole lot. Also I want to try to avoid medical interventions, which by staying at home helps a bit to prevent. I have to give birth at the hospital because I'm considered high risk, but my OBGYN is extremely cool and right on board with my ideas about it. If I wasn't high risk, I would highly consider doing a home birth, or a birth center birth. Please try to do what YOU want to do at YOUR birth, it's your body and if you think positively and think you can do it, then you can!

I'm 5'2 1/2" and I would love to be able to do a natural birth, however I've injured my tail own many times, so my dr is concerned that if I don't get an epidural my pain levels will cause stress during delivery and as we all now being stressed during delivery is bad for mom and baby. 😕

My birthing center midwives will also deliver at the hospital. This is my first and we are choosing this route. I want to give birth naturally but at the hospital with my midwives!!

I had all natural labor and delivery for my first :) and if this baby cooperates as well as her brother did then we will do all natural again. No meds nothing. :)
