Is it possible to get an infection from fingering?

My boyfriend was touching me around my vagina and now I think I may have thrush. Could that be the cause or is it just a coincidence?

Thrush is a yeast infection, I'm not sure if it can be passed on like that, but it's always best to have your partner wash his hands before he does that.
