What kind of plant is this and how do I keep it alive

I know nothing about plants but this doesn't look like its thriving lol

It looks like a perennial plant to me. It should look as if it if dead but will come back next year around same time. Don't quote me.

I'm not sure the exact name for that type of flower but all you really need to do is water it. Don't over water it though because that can kill it too. There's this nifty little thing I've seen where people will take clean, empty wine bottles, fill it with water and stick it into the soil. The plant practically waters itself.

It looks like a type of Mum (chrisantheum-spelling?) Some are annual and some are perennial. I'm in zone 4 so not all perennial will come back. Annuals in a warm climate do well all year around. If you have winter you could plant it and see if it comes back.
