VBAC experience?

TTC baby 2, not pregnant yet but already feeling overwhelmed about trying to decide about a vbac.  I had a c-section due to lack of progression after 18 hours of pain medication free labor including 4 hours of pushing. Unsure of my doctor's feelings toward vbac but also unsure how to go about finding a new provider I can trust.  Any advice would be helpful.

Very very common. Most doctors DO NOT want to do a csection unless ABSOLUTLY nessesary/need. So common now a days. Talk to ur doc ....he's the only one that can tell u how they feel about them (mist 💯). GL!

It's all about the reason for having the c section. My l/d nurse friends say more doctors are coming back around to VBAC. I say find the doctor that will at least talk about doing it. But for now just have fun with the ttc part. There will be plenty of time to make these decisions later! I'm also ttc #2, had csection with my first 9 years ago bc she was breech.

Don't overwhelm yourself with it allow your body to lead the way! My 1st baby I had to have a C section due to decreased heart rate with each contractions. I then express my feelings for a VBAC with my Dr, however I scheduled a C Section for my 2nd. There are some risks as with any other deliveries. Once I arrived at the hospital I informed the staff that I had a scheduled C section and basically was told not to worry about it because I was already 7 1/2cm dilated. So basically it's a 50/50 chance that you could have a VBAC. Talk with your Dr and if there's an indication that you don't feel right with what's discuss then look for a Dr that will support your decisions. Good Luck and relax it will all work out 😉

I'm s labor and delivery nurse and TOLAC  is reasonable as long your doctor is on property and feels it is safe. Good luck

The most successful VBAC attempts are after C/S for breech or twins. Usually if the first baby can't be pushed out, the second won't fit either.

I had a VBAC with #2 and it was amazing. If you are in the US I would not expect any OBs in a hospital to be very open minded. My ob said I could "try" but it seemed very much to just humor me that he said that. There were tons of additional rules I would have to abide by in the hospital too - like continuous monitoring. In the end I chose a homebirth because I felt I felt safer being at home with my midwife. The experience was amazing and I'm so glad I went with my instinct. Btw - my first C section was because my son was breech - not an emergency, so there was no reason to believe I couldn't deliver naturally.
