Do you carry the baby for 36 or 40 weeks?

This is my first pregnancy and I have been confused as to when the baby comes. My OBGYN tells me that I have 8 more weeks to go , but that would be a total of 40 weeks pregnant...I have talked to other women who have conceived and they say that's too long. 😔 So my question is how long do you actually carry a baby????

You carry a baby to 40 weeks. 36 weeks is considered premature, 37 - 38 is considered early term, 39 - 40 is considered full term. 41 - 42 is considered post term.

40 weeks some women can carry as long as 43. Whoever told you 40 weeks is to long clearly don't know what they are talking about

I'm 34 weeks and my doctor told me that 37-40 weeks is full term. They'll do what they can to stop my contractions and prevent labor up until I'm 37 weeks because they consider that the full term mark

I think some people aren't sure about it because you always hear people say something referring to being regnant for only 9 months... when your really pregnant for 10.
