Is there anything I should be prepared for?

When I got that I hated it I was on my period almost 3months ughh! Then headaches and after the 4th or 5 th month for a check up the iud was coming out on it's own dr. Said my body was rejecting it.

If you haven't already had it inserted, take ibuprofen before the appointment, so it'll help with the cramps afterward because you will definitely be having some cramps after! If it's possible, have the insertion done while you're on your period. If you're menstruating, your cervix will be a little lower, softer, and more open. I had to try the insertion twice, because the first time (when I wasn't on my period) my doctor couldn't even get the sound in. The second time it was no problem.

The insertions is going to hurt like hell but it's really fast, you'll be fine. Then the next little while you'll have some cramping and maybe bleeding.

I find that Mirena has made my cycle really light (like I basically can use 2-3 panty liners a day for 3-4 days and that's it) but seems to be irregular. My suspicion is that it is regular and just a really long cycle, which is why I've started using Eve to track it but ANYWAY yeah. That said, my first period (1 month after insertion) was AWFUL. It wasn't heavier than usual but I had really terrible cramps. It's just your uterus adjusting to the foreign object.

You also have to be okay with touching your cervix because you're supposed to check the strings about once a month. Your doctor will explain that part but I find it easiest to squat and then reach in with my middle finger.
