Scented tampons

Can someone tell me what the point of scented tampons is?! It's going to be all the way inside and I'm sure the smell of blood totally makes the scent disappear... Idk It just sounds like an unnecessary chemical that might (I'm sure it's been tested so I doubt it) irritate because it's quite a strong smell. (Tampax pearl). I accidentally bought it scented because I didn't realize there was that option for a dang tampon. Using it it regardless cause I'm too lazy to return.
