Depends on how serious you are about ttc. You may have a 28 day cycle but that doesn't mean you will ovulate on cd14 every cycle.

I have a very defined proven 28 day cycle with 3 day period. When I started ovulation testing, however, I found out my peak day wasn't 14, it was actually 17.

So if you want to know for sure....opk isn't a bad thing. They're fairly inexpensive if you buy on amazon

Everybody ovulates a different times, you can ovulate early on time or late. I have a 30 day cycle and I ovulated on cd 17
