Eloping?!?

Question

Has anyone eloped without family and everything was just fine?
Our families are begging us to get married before getting pregnant(we are actively ttc,been together for 8 years)but our families are 2,000 miles away and planning a wedding is hectic.

Nothing more i want than to marry him and don't really care about a wedding, but scared everyone is gonna be pissed. 
I know i shouldn't worry about what others think, but its still in the back of my mind.

My parents eloped and had a wonderful experience. My mom was a single mom and divorcee, and neither she nor my step dad wanted a huge wedding. They got married on the beach and had a party with family when they got home. Everyone was excited for them.

My husband and I eloped. Almost 7 years ago. I wouldn't change it for the world!! A bigger wedding with all the family will be happen one day, but we're still on our adventure. We actually went in for the paperwork and said screw it, let's do it now haha.  I'm so glad we did. He didn't tell his family until they came to visit and grandma caught on haha. I couldn't lie to grandma, my first time meeting her lmao.

Meeee🙋🏽 we went to the court, had some of coast guard friends be our witnesses, bought flowers from the local store, and I wore a dress from target. Then we told everyone. Was everyone pissed, hellll to the yes. But, at the end of the day, all that mattered was my husband and I and the love we share! ❤️

We eloped! We had our best friends and their parents as our witnesses. Their parents are like our second parents and their father was our photographer. We told everyone the day after at a house warming party. My husbands parents were a little angry but have eventually gotten over it since they realize we don't care their opinion. My dad was a little sad he didn't get to walk me down the isle but was happy because we were happy. We made sure our family got a wedding picture and it was perfect for us! We saved so much money and stress! I would definitely do it!

We actually discussed this over the last wknd. And I'm starting to think it might actually be the better way to go. I also wonder if our families will be upset. I also know my mother won't be happy regardless. Her idea of a wedding is inviting your entire extended family regardless if you have any kind of relationship with them. And I think otherwise. I believe you should celebrate with close family & friends who are not only a part of your daily life but also supportive of your relationship. Plus we both don't want to spend a lot of money. We'd rather have money to buy a house. I think people are going to be mad or offended one way or the other. You didn't ask them to be involved or they weren't invited etc. Might as well do what makes the two of you happy. At the end of the day that's what your wedding should really be about.

We had the wedding and also kind of eloped. We got married a day early with our immediate families there and then had the big wedding as planned. Honestly, I wish we'd never planned the big wedding.

That being said, my parents and his parents would have been pissed if they hadn't been invited. My mom made a list of "people who must be there even if eloping" in her original invite list.
