Boyfriend

So my boyfriend and I have almost been dating for a year but we've known eachother for over 6 years. So basically my birthday recently passed and he didn't get me anything, not even a card, no massage no nothing. He said he was broke and couldn't afford anything and if I'm in the relationship for gifts that I should leave.. I know he doesn't have money right now and things are tight but I honestly was really sad and disappointed when he really didn't have even one thing planned for my birthday.. It just made me feel worthless.. And now it's our one year anniversary this Friday and I have a feeling I'm getting nothing again and it just hurts a lot and makes me feel not important, I don't know what to do, he's in between jobs and I feel like a brat but it does hurt..
