Advice please!

My husband was pulled over because the tags were expired on my car, but the big problem was that his license was suspended three months ago because he couldn't pay the dmv and court fines. He was laid off from his job and he just now started a job. The officer didn't arrest him but she wrote him a ticket and his court date is in January. This is only offense but can he still get jail time?? What can happen to him? I'm so scared for him. I know he shouldn't have been driving but we can't change that now. I need advice ladies! Please help! I'm so scared.

He needs to pay all his fines, and get his license reinstated ASAP. He absolutely cannot miss his court date either. The judge will see that he's put in effort to remedy the situation, and things will be fine

My hubby has done that a few times. Just pay to get the tags and get his drivers license back and he should be fine. Maybe try before court and show proof of everything. You can check online what he needs to pay and do to get everything fixed.

The only ways he could get arrested at this point is if:A. He continues driving on suspended license.b. Fails to appear at mandatory court date. Judge will issue warrant for his arrest.Cop did him a solid, now it's up to him to do the right thing. If he gets caught again, no one to blame but himself.

It is so different state to state. I asked my husband who is an officer but he said it depends on the state and the details of your situation.

I believe that no tags and an expired license is a misdemeanor which means he will have a warrant out for his arrest shortly after the officers get the police report done and sent to the magistrate to bet signed for a warrant request. When he goes to court, make sure he has money with him... probably 300 or 500 dollars because it will probably be a 10% bond. If he doesn't carry it, make sure you have it on hand because when he gets a call after being booked into the jail, he will get a booking phone call. I know this because I am a Correctional Officer and Dispatcher in MI

My sister hasnt had a legit license in a very long time because of dui's and tickets mainly for speeding and driving without a license and has never had any jail time.

Most likely no, just a fine.. But it wouldnt hurt for him to call a lawyer to handle things
