Breast Pumps through insurance?

Hi everyone. For those getting pumps through insurance, do you go through the insurance company or a third party? I'm guessing third party but I'm not even sure where to start!

If you to Aeroflow they will do all the work through your insurance. You just give them your information and they do the work! It sounds too good to be true, but I filled out the form, chose my pump, and it was on my doorstep a week later!

I called my insurance company and they told me I could purchase my pump at any retail store and fill out a claim form and send the receipt to be reimbursed. I didn't need a prescription and I just got my check in the mail this week from them. I'd call your insurance company because it will depend on what company you are with, they all do it a little differently I think.

I called my insurance (BCBS FL) first. They told me they cover breast pumps in full, but they go through one specific company (Care Centrix), so they routed my call, I gave them some info, and they routed me to Medela and I got to choose my pump. It came in the mail 3 days later. I have a bunch of friends who used Aeroflow and had a great experience as well, but I would call your insurance first because it may be like mine where they use one company to supply the pumps..kind of cuts down on the time.

You should be offered paper work at the hospital and it's basically like a prescription. I'm getting the paper work for mine from WIC at my next appointment. Unfortunately, you don't get it until a little while after baby is born.. But hospital has ones you can borrow.

I went to yummymummy.com and simply entered my insurance info on their website with a shipping address. They will show you what breast pumps you are covered for which is usually a lot!!

And around 2 months later mine arrived!!

Mine is through a third party. I would just call your insurance company and they'll give you the contact info you need.

Call your insurance company.  I had to choose from two places that were in network in order for it to be covered.

I called my insurance company and they told me about my coverage as well as gave me several phone numbers of participating providers that carry rx medical equiptment. I was able to get my pump in the mail when I reached my third trimester. :) it was a painless process.

Maybe check with the place you are delivering? Our hospital sends us home with one since it's covered by insurance.
