Are you getting the flu shot?

I read somewhere that you should not get the flu shot during the first trimester but the CDC website says you can get it anytime.  Thoughts?

I got mine a few days after I found out I was pregnant.  Pregnancy suppresses your immune system making you more likely to come down with bugs that you used to be able to fend off AND makes the illnesses you do get more likely to be severe.  Given that the flu normally has a 3-5 day high fever (which is really dangerous for the baby), I did what I can do to protect myself from it.  Remember, the flu can be deadly, especially in those who are at higher risk of complications (hello pregnant women).  Over 30,000 people die in the US alone from the flu every single year.  It isn't something to mess with, especially with your baby's life on the line.

No doctor can make you, you always have a choice. There is not enough studies that the flu shot does NOT have long term side effects on unborn children or once they are born. All I know is if I have a baby that is growing and can't fight infection,  the last thing I'm going to do is intentionally put a strain of the flu virus inside me and my unborn baby.

My doctor made me - I didn't want to. But I got it at 8 weeks and now I'm 13 weeks and I haven't had any side affects and baby is good. Not sure about long term affects but so far so good! But like I said, they made me.

I got it before I got pregnant. I'm a nurse and either we have to get it or we have to wear a mask from the second we get to work until we leave work.

No freaking way. The insert even says that the vaccine has not been tested for safety for pregnant or breastfeeding women! There's also a link from the flu vaccine to an increased risk of miscarriage or still birth. It's also known as "vitamin D deficiency disease " and one of the reasons it's more common in the cooler months is because people are not outside as much getting their natural vitamin D. I take extra vitamin C and vitamin D3 this time of year to help make sure I'm getting what I need! So far, so good! Not even the sniffles.

Got mine at 10 weeks. Doctor highly recommended it. I'm normally against it. Prefer my body to do what it does naturally, but this time I don't know, I just felt like it was a good idea being pregnant.
