Confused..

I started my period last night (I have a tampon in now) but I feel like I'm "leaking" so I run to the bathroom and all that's there is watery discharge? covering my panties... I'm not sure what it is. It smells like bitter/fishy. Any ideas on what it is? (This never has happened before)
