Maternal Age: How old is too old?

With the science of IVF and fertility treatments many women are holding off on starting families until after they've established a career first or many other couples struggle through decades to become parents, usually taking them into what's considered advances maternal age (35+ years old). 
So, how old is too old? At what age are the maternal and fetal risks too high? Should there be an age limit on who can receive fertility and IVF treatments?
