Is the nickname "Alex" too common?

We don't know the gender yet, but we're thinking we might like "Alexander" if it's a boy. He'd probably end up getting called "Alex" because it's a really common nickname for that name (I know there are alternatives like Xander and such).

I like Alex, but I worry that people are sick of it or that it's overused. What do you think?

If you like it, who cares what others think!!! Its like when someone wants to name their daughter Scarlett and people say "no because that's the name of the actress." Like, seriously? Its annoying. I like Alex. My husbands first and middle name is Rene Alexander and many people call him Alex as a nickname. I personally have always called him Rene.

If our little bean is a boy he will be Alexander James. I think ours is going to be an A.J.

who cares?? there's only so many names vs people you know. I like Alex a lot and if you do then that's all that matters.

I actually don't know a single Alex! Also, my mom told me once that nicknames aren't used unless you start them. The more I think about it, the more I agree! If you call him Alexander, it's most likely others will, too. Regardless, both names are great! 👍🏻

It's a very common nickname for boys and girls, but if you like it and are fine with that then go for it!

I voted no, but maybe I'm biased since my name is Allex! ( btw my name isn't short for anything, my name is just Allex.) everyone always asks if it's a nickname haha
