TMI but need to know. pull out or no?

so i have had my skyla for a little over a month now. i read that it starts preventing pregnancy 10 days after insertion. should my boyfriend still pull out when we have sex? i know getting pregnant with an iud can be VERY dangerous. also, i am pretty confused about the whole ovulation thing. do iuds stop you from ovulating??

Generally no, the IUD doesn't stop you from ovualating. The hormones in it thicken your cervical mucus (so sperm has a hard time getting through) and it things your uterine lining so nothing can implant. (This is why your periods get lighter or stop.)

IUDs are >99% effective. You can pull out if you want, but it won't make much difference.
