Thoughts on inductions???

My dr plans to induce me on the 22nd. My baby is due on the 27th. There's no medical purpose but just convenience. Is it safe. I'll be 39 weeks and 2 days the day he plans to induce me.

I wouldn't, but that is me. Inductions carry a higher risk of fetal distress and c section.

I'm getting induced tomorrow morning at 40 weeks exactly. I've never been induced before but mine is for medical reasons. I think you just need to trust your gut. If it were for medical reasons and safety of your baby and yourself then I would say absolutely you should agree to it, but if your Dr. just wants to induce you out of convenience then I would definitely have some reservations about that. I don't want to be induced unless there is a medical need for it, or I'm post date (after my 40 week mark-OB won't induce me until I'm post date anyway). I have seen many inductions go smoothly without complication to mother or baby, so I'm not opposed to them completely, but would like to wait for labor to start on its own. I'm 39 officially tomorrow-so I'm holding it for 1 more week to see if contractions start or my water breaks & then I'll schedule an inductions.

They offered to induce me at 39 weeks (next week) due to my severe pelvic pain and instability but I've declined. I see no reason to induce unless baby is overdue or in distress. I can't justify doing it for my own convenience. Hope things go well for you and quickly!!

I was fine during my induction. My son came in 6 hours and he was perfect :) I would love to be induced early this pregnancy

It's completely up to you, but my opinion is that baby comes when the baby is ready. The due date is an estimate, so if baby decides to come a week after the due date, that's what was supposed to happen. If the doc just is doing it out of convenience, it's not right because being induced can bring a higher likelyhood of a longer labor, harder contractions, fetal distress and c-section. That's just what i hear.

I wouldn't. My first had to be induced which I believe led to him being in distress and having to be delivered via emergency csection.
