Thought this was shady
CVS pharmacy lady told me my insurance wasn't going to cover my rx for generic baby aspirin (at risk for preeclampsia, baby aspirin has been shown to reduce the risk) and I should get the OTC version. Found it on my formulary as a tier 0 (meaning it's zero dollars). Went back and told her it's covered. She said, "it's not covered it's the same thing as over the counter". I said, "it's not the same thing as over the counter, that costs me money, this is $0 as a prescription." And she continued to give me a hard time. But I held my ground. She ran the rx again as a 30 day supply instead of 90 day, and it was finally "covered". Seems shady as heck. I didn't complain to a manager but the more I think about it, the more I think she did something seriously wrong. Why did it take five minutes of badgering to get her to try running it for a different supply amount? I can't tell if this was laziness or if I was being unreasonable to expect the pharmacy to fill it vs. paying the money for the OTC stuff.
