Birthing positions
How many of you felt that when you gave birth the doctor was in charge and required you to be flat on your back, legs up, to give birth?
I'm a nursing student and I just saw a vaginal delivery that was textbook. Flat on her back, doc between her legs, everyone yelling to push.
It just made me angry to see her in that position. I feel that women should have the right to choose how they want to give birth. Instead of being told the only way is also the most convenient for the doctor.
Is this a common feeling? If my next rotation is on maternity I feel like I will be stepping on toes by suggesting to women to do what is comfortable for them.
