If I got locked away... Would you still love me the same?

I know a lot of this song is about not loving material things... But dang! My man isn't a criminal and if he got locked away for something I might think "hey is this really the man I fell in love with" since I let him know from the beginning how important honesty, integrity, and stability are to me lol 😂
Anyone feel similarly? I like the song but that line really throws me off 😝.

Thank. You. This song drives me crazy!! Id be like, "You did something wrong/illegal and now you're in prison?" No I would not love you the same, with very few exceptions. What a stupid song.

My husband and I relate to it more in the military sense than the jail sense. It feels like a prison sentence sometimes lol.

I heard on the radio this song was written about his relationship with his father.  Kinda confusing because some of the words seems more of a romantic relationship

I told my husband if he ever did something to go to jail and ruin his life I would not subject myself and our children to that. Even if he didn't stay in jail we would have trouble getting a home, a job for him, and a lot more. I would have to do what's best for our kids. Plus if he did something bad enough to be arrested I don't know that I could look at him the same.
