Opinions needed, please.

So I decided that I wanted to tell my moms side of the family about my pregnancy by Christmas/Holiday card. I waited until I was comfortable enough in my pregnancy to let them know (haven't gave it to them yet). So my mom has known already and this is what she said to me last night; she told me that I am wrong to tell my aunt by card because I was over her house about 2 weeks ago for 2 hrs (just spending time with her) I should have told her face to face. In my opinion, I think that I'm really not obligated to tell anyone unless I want too! Second, she is only my aunt not my MOM. I was really pissed because my mom and I have never had a good relationship and she is being so negative that it makes me regret even telling her. She has not said anything about throwing a shower for me yet my MIL has been excited about becoming a grandmother and is planning one for me. MIL calls to check on me often my mother doesn't and she never asks for an update on the baby. I just want to know opinions on this matter. Am I wrong to give my aunt a card? Should I stop trying with my mom? I know pregnancy makes you hormonal so am I overreacting??
