Doc won't give me heart rate!

Girl, no confirmation yet)... I asked my OB if we could hear it and he said not until 12 weeks, which I know isn't true based on reading you all's experiences. Then I asked what her heart rate was and he said it didn't show but it looked normal... Feeling a little jipped on the experience here, and feeling like I don't have all the information I want. I don't go in for another us until I THINK 12 weeks, although I had some trouble understanding the process. She looks beautiful and I'm over the moon to see her, even more than I thought I would be, but this is nagging at me. Any thoughts or experiences ladies??
