Gender Reveal-- party or not?

I have been considering a gender reveal party. I'm still unsure about how I feel about it so I want your opinions!

Why or why wouldn't you have one? If you have done one, how did you go about planning? When did you do it? Thanks!

Well, I threw my own gender reveal. I bought all the decorations, the food, the cake, the box, the balloons, alcohol, you name it. This is our first baby, so I wanted to celerbate and surprise everyone. Nobody brought a present of any kind, and nobody is throwing me a baby shower. So, for people saying it's selfish to have a gender reveal party, that's dumb, you are assuming everyone has people doing shit for them. 👍🏻

We had a gender reveal "BaBy-Q" ... We provided all the food and drinks and a girlfriend of mine came over before to help with decorations. We cut a cake and found out along with everyone else at the party - it was so exciting for us and our families and friends and a moment I definitely will never forget!!
(I was in shock that it was boy... In case it's not obvious from my expression!)

I always thought they were kinda overkill and tacky- you can always do a gender reveal at the shower if you want to make it a surprise- or leave it a surprise until the birth.

I'm doing one. Were having a Christmas eve gathering at my mom and I'm revealing with the box and balloon thing while all my family is there. And its a big deal to me because I'm 32 and this is my first child so I'm making this pregnancy memorable and fun as possible.

I'm not doing one. Seems over kill for me and no one else in family has done one, so I don't see a reason for a gender reveal to have its own separate party plus a shower. It's one thing to do a reveal cake or something at a family gathering, but a full blown party, not my cup of tea. But everyone is entitled to if they choose.

We didn't have one, however we havnt told anyone the gender of our baby. I don't think I'd have a gender reveal party, maybe more like a family dinner or something?

Sorry if i offend anyone but i think gender reveal parties are pretty much pointless. People never had them before until it showed up all over social media. Why not just reveal the gender when & if you have a baby shower? A gender reveal announcement seems more proper but the money spent on a party that isn't necessary seems like a waste to me. Just my opinion.

I always contemplated having one maybe one day, but now I think it's just over kill and asking too much time and money from your guests. I'm planning something private just between my husband and I.
