Luncheon Meat

Is it okay to eat deli meats like turkey? I love sub sandwiches.

It's ok if you cook it on high heat. The  ingest deterrence to eating lunch meat is food poisoning. Just be careful what you eat. Everything should be thoroughly cooked.

Yes. The bacteria can cause food poisoning which could harm the baby especially if the baby is feeding off the placenta.

So don't eat it anymore raw then?

You can, avoid ones with nitrates, and cook them to kill any bacteria (the biggest concern is listeria). It should cool off pretty quick if you want a cold sandwich.

Listeria can also be found in fruits and veggies too. Just make sure everything is washed thoroughly.

My doctor told me to avoid lunch meat; even heated. I'm going to double check with her, but all my research has said definitely not raw. Does anyone know if this applies to pepperoni pizza also? Even cold?

I second Cidalia. You don't want to go crazy on processed meats overall. However when you get those craving be very cautious of how they are cooked.

Pizza? Not if it was previously cooked. You just don't wanna go crazy on processed meats (pepperoni, hotdogs, etc).

Yeah I would like to know that too.

My OBGYN said if you get lunch meat it has to be fresh, like you watch them cut it fresh, and you can only eat it for one day after. Each OBGYN has views on what they think is best for their clients, so you should talk to them to see what they think is best for you.
