I'm making this a gift for my husbands cousin who loves this team. I was thinking maybe black polka dots since its for a girl?

I know this is late, but I would personally grab some ribbon the same color as the lettering and add it to the top. Like wrap the ribbon around the neck of the bottle and tie it in front and make a bow tie!

I wouldn't do polka dots - I personally find those to be tacky on most anything other than dresses.

Since it's for a girl and is also a team thing, look in to adding vector swirls (you can google them under just vector designs too). They have a pretty look to them, don't make things look tacky or TOO girly. You could also try some paisley designs.
