Feeling anxious about a few things

Anyone know anything about iodine levels during pregnancy?  I just read about how important this mineral is and I have no idea if I get enough of it.  I know it's found in salt but I try not to over do sodium and I'm not a big seafood person (also found in fish/seaweed).  How common is this deficiency actually?  Or is it rare that I would be deficient?  My doctor did not say anything about it at my first appointment and it's not in prenatal vitamins even though it is supposedly so important for fetal brain development in the first trimester, which is just about over for me.
Another topic I am unsure about is hypothyroidism.  What are some symptoms of this?  My husband and I had no problems getting pregnant and I have read that it can cause fertility issues and a bad thyroid can also harm baby's brain/development.  I have gained weight but it was not particularly unexpected weight gain.  I had my TSH taken in April and it was 2.12.  Any chance it has changed much in the last 6 months?
