Too early to buy baby clothes?

So me and my bf recently found out we are having a baby girl and we were both excited to go out and buy stuff for her. We didnt go crazy or anything we just bought her a few little outfits which were on sale at Carter's (60% off if anyones interested in good deals) and we showed our moms and they both kind of made little smart remarks that i kind of didnt like. They were like "you guys are spending way too much money!" " you act like the babys about to pop its way too early to buy stuff" 
Im gonna turn 5 months next week so i dont really see how thats TOO early. Smh any opinions??

I went to Carters right after our private scan to buy some cute dresses. Don't let them bring you down! Just enjoy this pregnancy and do what you feel is best :)

I don't understand how it is any of their business how much money you spend on YOUR baby. Anyway if you can see the gender of the baby, how could it be to early?

We bought a pram that was on a really good sale when I was only 6 weeks pregnant. Than bought some clothes when I was 12 weeks pregnant and just bought a playmat for baby and I'm still only 19weeks pregnant. I buy everything little by little. It's easier to spend 50£ a month than 500£ at the end of the pregnancy at once. But that's just my opinion.

I bought some clothes last week and I'm five months.  I told myself I wouldn't since I know everyone gives clothes but between a coupon, kohls cash, and clearance items I got 4 baby girl outfits for $1.20. So why not?!

I am almost 16 weeks and had a 25 % of coupon plus everything was 40-70 % off already so I had to do some shopping!! Saved like $70 only spent about $40 and got ALOT of stuff

I started buying stuff when we first found out we were pregnant! Neutral stuff and from the thrift store but seriously it's up to you when and what to buy for your baby! It's exciting to find out what you're having and be able to be more gender specific when you buy things so I don't blame you!! Have fun!

I started buying stuff because my first son came early and we had nothing because of everyone else's opinion. I like to be prepared so I have started early and could care less what they think lol

My husband and I found out 3 weeks ago we are having a girl. Ever since then everyone has gone a little crazy. My in laws set up a crib for her. And we have now collected around 3 baskets of clothing for her ( all second hand) . My sister is also pregnant and she had her nursery done and 5 and a half months. I think it's whatever you want to do :)
