So I would maybe like to try butt sex but don't really know anything about it

Anal is very dependant on the person. 
Point 1 is if he doesn't want to try it you can talk to him about it but you can't force him. 
Most embarrassing thing? Well that's your butt.. And poop comes out of there so there could be poop. 
Lube is good to be using if you try anythin because your butt doesn't lubricate itself like a vagina. 
You need to take anal slow when you begin and if you decide you like it then you can slowly try more. Eg. Start with fingers or maybe small toys and if your partner is comfortable with it you could eventually try a penis or whatever.

Okay, make sure you both want to do this. 
Use TONS of lube!! Cannot stress that enough! 
Sex feels tighter in doggy style so anal will too. Try a different position for your first time so it's not as tight :)

My main thing is that if your boyfriend is uncomfortable, you should not pressure him to do it. That being said, yes, there are many risks to it, and the likelihood that you will like it the first time around is extremely small.

If you are 
1) of age
2) BOTH consenting
3) use proper lubrication, protection, and foreplay techniques, you will be fine

And by proper foreplay, I don't mean in the moment. You should be "training" for QUITE awhile before you actually participate in anal sex. Hope this helps
