Why are people being prescribed metformin?

I've seen a few posts now about people TTC and saying they've been prescribed Metformin? My mother has that to treat her diabetes why's it prescribed when TTC? X

Oftentimes it's prescribed to help ovulation in women with PCOS.
It's the same as the diabetes drug.

I was prescribed it for my insulin resistance. Doc says women on it get pregnant quickly lol.

I take it for pcos, it helps with a few different things, ovulation, weight etc... I was told once I did get pregnant I will have to continue to take it to help maintain the pregnancy as well...

I wasn't trying to conceive but when I was on it for my PCOS symptoms.
