Microwaving lunch meat?

Has anyone else's doctor told them they should be nuking cold cuts for 30 seconds or so in the microwave before eating them? Something to do with listeria?

Some people are super paranoid.

The chances are, if you haven't heard of a listeria outbreak, you're fine. The last few outbreaks have involved fruits & veggies.

For the extremely paranoid, I've told them to nuke it and then put it in the fridge for a bit so that you don't have to eat warm meat. Who doesn't love a COLD cut.

For me, I worry more about nitrates and how processed most lunch meats are. I stick to applegate farms, personally.

I heat mine up. You could always cool it back down though. I do it just incase... After you get sick and it's on the news is too late.

She hasn't told me that, but I have read it. So I've just been doing it on my own. However, I have had a bite of a sandwich here or there that hasn't been nuked. But I do try and heat them up.

Yeah but the thought of warm lunch meat grosses me out. I eat a lunch meat sandwich almost every day at work and baby is just fine, listeria can be in a lot of things just gotta make sure the lunch meat is sealed properly and not past expiration, if I have a pack of it open for longer than 5 days I'll throw it away and buy more.
