Gastric bypass?

Has anyne gotten pregnant after having bypass? I had it in feb and got pregnant 9 months later i was told to wait 18 months...   Just wondering Id anyone else went thru this and how they dealt with the limited food and drink intake

I know someone that has had all of her kids post op. However she did not get pregnant until a few years after. The reason the suggest waiting that long after is because the 1st year is when you drop weight the quickest. It will be hard on your body to gain weight and absorb nutrients while you are so close to having the surgery. Just be sure to keep the doctors informed on everything!

You're definitely going to have to work closely with you surgeon to make sure you're eating properly and getting the extra (extra) vitamins. They are really who you want to speak with regarding this. Also, I'm not sure if it's still active, but obesityhelp.com used to have message boards for everything pre & post op... You may be able to find better info there. I've lost over 7 stone now and no baby. My friend had a bypass and has had 2 children since. I would have thought it would increase your chances 🙂

I'm almost 7 months out and pregnant, and honestly your intake shouldnt be of any concern. You only need 500 more calories for a healthy pregnancy. You may want crap but you don't need it. I added 2 prenatals to the vitamins I was already taking, that's it.. baby and mom are healthy and happy..
