Red wine during pregnancy?

Someone just told me a glass of red wine is okay while pregnant? That would make me so nervous! What do you guys thinks? I think I would always be way to paranoid to do that no matter if doc ok'd it or not!?

No. Alcohol is #1 cause of preventable birth defects. Science can't say what amount is safe. Not worth risk imo.

I LOVE RED WINE. However 9 months isn't a life time I wouldn't risk it no matter who told me that. But to each is own. I'll look forward to my glass after I can pump enough to safely have one ☺️

Nobody knows how much alcohol might be OK in pregnancy. It's very clear that a lot of alcohol is very bad, and there's nothing to suggest that an occasional drink is harmful, but nobody knows where the line is between the two ends of the spectrum. It would be horrifically unethical to do that study, so we'll never know.

The truth is probably that it even varies from person to person because different people metabolize alcohol at different rates, so one woman's fetus would probably have more exposure than another's even with the same intake.

So the short answer is a glass of red wine (or white or a beer or whatever) now and then during pregnancy is not going to have a negative effect on the baby.

For some people, if something were to happen they would find it very difficult not to blame themselves and/or to wonder if that glass of wine might have caused the problem. If that's the case for you, then don't have a drop of alcohol so you don't have to wonder or worry. If you have indulged a little, it is not the end of the world.

I've had two glasses of wine during pregnancy decision made by my SO and I after speaking to several doctors. I'm fine and baby is fine. But everyone has to make that decision for themselves. I have a gf who is in an Italian family and regularly drank red wine through both her pregnancies not an uncommon thing for them and both babes are healthy.

Get yourself some FRE. It's alcohol free red wine and they even make champagne! It's fun to have at holiday parties and tastes pretty good! The doc says its ok for a glass of wine and a ton of my friends drank one glass here and there at the end of the pregnancy but personally, not worth it to me and the FRE is an awesome substitute. Plus you can make fun mocktails with the champagne. 😊

My doc said I can have one glass of red wine a week. I save it for the weekends. It's nice! 🍷

I drink wine with no alcohol. Just for the taste hehe. I wouldn't drink regular wine even if dr ok'd it.
