Low laying placenta?

Question

I'm 16 weeks today and had an ultrasound. Baby looks great weighing 5oz and is about 7.1inches long. They did say I have a low playing placenta. Now I'm on pelvic rest. Anyone have this? I'm kinda wording about it.

A low lying placenta isn't necessarily placenta previa. Low lying just means, it's down close to your cervix, so when you strain to use the restroom etc., you are pushing on your cervix, and this may cause some bleeding. I had this with my first pregnancy, and was on light bed rest for a few days after having a little bleeding. My placenta moved up and away from my cervix shortly after and everything was fine. So don't worry until there is something to worry about. 😊

I'm so scared about this. I'm working still and my hubby is so mad at me for not quitting. My doctor said I could continue, but I'm on pelvic rest.

I have it too. It's called placenta previa and it's where the placenta has developed close to or on top of the cervix. I've been super nervous about it but my doctor said that he isn't too worried about it right now because I'm still in the early stages of pregnancy. It normally corrects itself but if it doesn't he said I'll have to have a c-section.

I'm 13 weeks and am in the same situation. I actually was in the ER last night for spotting because of it. Everything is okay, just laying low and resting. I wish I could help, but I'm just as worried. :/

Yes I had it with my last baby but it resolved well before birth. I wouldn't worry. Apparently the placenta moves around so it very well could move before it causes a problem otherwise they'll do a c-section.
