Any been through custody court?

Has anyone ever been through custody court? I go for our "scheduling hearing" Christmas ever and have some questions. Thanks in advance :)

I went through a 6 month custody battle with my son. Good. Fucking. Luck. My ex and I are great now.. 2 years later.. But those 6 months were the worst 6 months of my life. I'll be surprised if anything else tops them. We went through a divorce at the same time, so that didn't help things either. Custody battles are rough in general. Just keep your child's best interest in the forefront ahead of you or the other parents personal feelings.

At that hearing you guys will each speak what you want then the court will set a date for a pre trial hearing. Usually they do this scheduling hearing to see if things can be worked out at mediation without involving a magistrate or judge.
