Is feeling your cervix everyday a reliable way to find out if you are pregnant?

I've been doing some thinking and I have an idea, but idk how far fetched it is. So your cervix closes up from the mucus plug when you become pregnant. So lets say you are late or miss a period all together. And then starting the day you think about if you're pregnant or not, you feel if your cervix is closed or open everyday for about a month. Would that work as an indicator to find out if you're pregnant or not? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I just wanna know if it might be better than spending money on a test or constantly asking your doctor for a test.
