In a c section there's a guard up... But in a vaginal delivery they probably can't cover you or else THEY wouldn't be able to see. But, as a person with free will and voluntary movement of eyeballs and eyelids, no one will be forcing you to look.........

You will be spread eagle on the table and pushing and you won't care who will see you. I vaguely remember the door opening and people coming in and bringing in stuff for the baby and nurses moving around, but I don't even know how many people saw my vagina. The dr did offer me a mirror at one point and I said no. My husband watched even though he swore he wouldn't and loved it! And I reached down and pulled my son out and onto my chest. It was still perfect

My MIL wore a huge skirt that covered her up when she had her 6 children. She said as soon as she had them she would turn over and not look at them or anything. I always thought that was weird, but she's scared of her body and of newborn babies. She said that after having a kid you can't get our of bed for 40 days because your uterus will fall out. I can't believe she had 6 kids.

When you deliver vaginally it's kinda hard to see because of your belly in the way. Some places have mirrors so you can watch if you want.

For some people, watching the baby emerge is exciting or motivating or empowering, and ultimately is a very rewarding part of the birth experience.

I watched more than a few vaginal births as a medical student, and I did not want to watch that happening to my own vagina. The part that I wanted most was the baby plopped on my chest, and I got that, it was more wonderful than I'd expected, and I mostly try not to think about the rest of L&D.

I didn't want the mirror because I didn't want to see either... then everyone else except me could see what was going on. I finally asked for the mirror and could see how much harder I needed to push. Two pushes later and he was born! I will use the mirror right from the get go this time.
