Difference between swaddling & receiving blanket

Ok 1st time mom ordering essentials online with a gift card. Swaddling blankets are to wrap around the baby while receiving can be used for multiple things ( such as nursing or placing baby on surfaces) I'm wondering if you can swaddling with a receiving blanket or is it best to keep the two separate.Thanks!
